About Our Strawberries

A Longer Season, by Design

We grow both June bearing and everbearing strawberries, giving us a longer season that runs from late May through to the end of September. Each variety is chosen for its flavour, reliability and the unique qualities it brings to the season.

There will always be slight variations in ripening times — farming is connected to Mother Nature.

Our Strawberry Varieties

From the first berries of early June to the last everbearing harvest in September, here's what you'll find at our market table.

Everbearing Variety

Albion

2 to 3 harvests per season — May 20th to September 30th

Albion

May 20 – Sept 30

These unique berries are grown differently than traditional strawberries. Albion are planted into raised soil with a biodegradable white plastic wrapping to warm the soil and control moisture. Unlike regular strawberries, Albion is planted and fruited in the same year, but only picked for one or two years.
Albion has great flavour, more of a firm flesh and a better shelf life than the June bearing varieties. Many of our customers tell us how much they have enjoyed this new variety — they say it's the best one they've ever tasted.

June Bearing Variety

Annapolis, Jewel & Valley Sunset

One large harvest — early June through late June

Annapolis

Early Season · June 5

Originally bred in Nova Scotia, Annapolis is a very early ripening berry that has a great flavour and is known for its bright red colour and rich sweetness — especially if we have a warmer spring. Annapolis is vigorous and cold hardy. We love it for its reliability and consistent early strawberries.

Jewel

Mid-Season · June 10 – 15

A fan favourite known for its fantastic flavour, beautiful large-sized fruit and exceptional picking length.

Valley Sunset

Late Season · June 15 – 30

These strawberries are light, blushed red — large, sweet, and not too firm (not the best for shipping, but excellent for fresh picking and eating). Sunset ripens later in the strawberry season and has been one of the latest to ripen.
